Holiday Festivities or Fatigue?
Ever heard of the "festive fizzle" phenomenon at work? That's the burnout experienced by employees during the holidays due to pressures to finish the year strong, attend numerous workplace social gatherings, decode gift giving, and sometimes face worrisome end-of-year changes in the organization. Workplaces can address the fizzle phenomenon by building in bandwidth for employees to avoid overwhelm in December. Consider remote work, holiday sentiments instead of gifts, fewer social obligations (unless your workforce loves to party with each other!), and clarity about any surprises that may be coming in January.
